About Parkos
A local marketplace for electronics, built on a simple reversal: instead of you going from shop to shop asking for prices, the shops come to you.
Why it exists
Buying a phone in an Indian market means walking it. You ask one shop, then another, and you take each price on trust because you have no way to compare them at once. The shop two lanes over might be three thousand rupees cheaper and you will never know.
Online marketplaces solved the comparison and lost the shop. You wait for a courier, you cannot inspect anything before paying, and the retailer down the road — who would have matched the price and handed it to you the same afternoon — never got the chance to try.
Parkos keeps both. You post what you want. Every verified shop within 10 km sees it and quotes. You pick one, walk in, check the item, and pay at the counter.
How we make money
Shops pay ₹200 for 30 days of unlimited bidding. That is our only revenue.
We take no commission on anything sold, and we never charge buyers. We do not take payment for items at all — the customer pays the shop directly, which means we are never holding anyone’s money and never deciding when to release it.
It also means our incentive is straightforward: shops renew a pass only if it brought them business, so the only thing worth optimising is whether real customers turn up.
What we check before a shop can quote you
- GSTIN — verified against the issuing authority
- PAN — cross-checked against the GSTIN, which contains it
- A person reviews it. Passing the automated check puts a shop in a queue, not on the platform. Somebody looks at every application.
One business gets one shop account, so a shop cannot walk away from a bad rating and start again.
What we refuse to hold
We store a shop’s Aadhaar verification status, never the number. We do not collect bank documents. We have no card details for anyone, because there is no online payment to collect them for. Your pickup code exists as a one-way hash that even we cannot read.
None of this is difficult — it is mostly a matter of deciding not to keep things. The privacy policy sets out the whole list.
